Women’s World Cup continues today with three games and Japan versus Scotland is the first one. This game will be second game for both teams. Japan played a scoreless draw in their opener against Argentina, while Scotland lost to England 2-1. Japan has three draws and two losses in their last five games, while Scotland has one loss, one draw and three wins. Japan has played really strong teams including Spain, Germany, England and France. Scotland’s opponents have not been that strong, but they still have a good form. Japan has scored 4 goals in their past 5 (0,8 per game on average) and they have given away 9 (1,8 per game on average). Scotland has scored 7 goals in their past 5 (1,4 goals per game on average) and given away 5 (1 goal per game on average).

Japan won the ball possession in their opening game and had more shots than their opponent. Scotland got ran over by England especially in the first half of their opening game. England scored both of their goals in the first half, and Scotland didn’t have time to get back to the game later. Manchester City striker Claire Emslie scored Scotland’s only goal in the 79th minute.

Eventhough Japan was struggling in their opener, they have a good team on international level. They have won the World Cup once back in 2011 and they have reached the final in Olympic Games in 2012. Japan also reached the World Cup final in 2015, but they lost to USA 5-2. Japan has also won Asian Championship two times in the row after finishing third twice in a row. Scotland has reached European Championships once in 2017 and now they are playing in the World Cup for the first time.

Japan has been more successful team throughout the history and is a favorite in this game. There has been 3 or more goals in 3 games out of 5 Japan has played. In Scotland’s past 5 games ball has found the net 3 or more times in two games, both of them in their last two. I’m expecting Japan to get their game going and also Scotland score at least once. Over 2,5 goals gives nice odds and some more excitement for the game. Finnish viewrs are able to watch the game on TV2 and it starts at 16.00.
